The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (外貿協會, TAITRA) is set to dispatch a task force of 26 senior officials to 29 cities in 26 countries, to find orders, collect business intelligence, and establish connections. According to Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Bill Cho, of the 26 targeted nations, nine are in Asia, five in Africa, five in Eastern Europe and three in Latin America. Cities in India, Russia, and Brazil were chosen in order to expand on second-tier cities in those natons, while the rest of the cities were chosen due to their large population sizes, good purchasing power, and potential as a market for Taiwanese produts. Three-quarters of the 26 countries being visited have no TAITRA or MOEA offices.

The first visiting group will be leaving Monday to visit Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Belarus, and Russia for at least two months. More countries will be considered if there is enough demand from domestic companies to tap into these markets.

To help domestic companies expand into emerging markets TAITRA will hold meetings with businesses across Taiwan. These meetings aim to address Taiwan's domestic market's needs so that the task force can better serve domestic companies. The first meeting is to be held in
Central Taiwan on Monday, with the following meeting scheduled for Thursday of next week in Southern Taiwan.
